Recently we have had some just plain rude comments left here on the blog, which I ceremoniously deleted. The person who left said comment then emailed me and called me a hypocrite and other wonderful names for deleting said comment. Therefore, I have decided to make the rules for commenting clear and unambiguous.
- Be Nice. This does not mean you have to agree with me, my theology or my haircut. It does, however, mean you will not be rude, call people names or otherwise act like an immature idiot.
- I get to decide what nice means. Again, I have zero problem if you disagree with me, as long as you are nice about it.
- If you are not nice, your comment will be deleted.
- Anonymous comments will not be published. If you are not person enough to leave your name, I am under no obligation to give you a platform.
- If you want to back up something you say in the comments, it is OK to post a link. Do not post links in the comment to unrelated websites. The place to do that is in the box marked URL in the comment form.
- Please be topical. In other words, if what you have to say is not related to the post at hand, it will be deleted.
- I reserve the right to edit comments to correct spelling or grammatical errors or, very occasionally, to remove offensive content. Usually, however, I will just nuke the whole thing.
- If you persist in violating the rules, you will be banned from commenting on this blog.
This is not a huge problem, but a persistent one. For the 99% of you who are nice and leave comments, I appreciate it very much. In fact, I wish you would do it more! Also, if I post something you agree with, disagree with or whatever, I really hope you will blog about it on your own blog and link to the post in question. Linking to this site from your blog, FaceBook page, mySpace page, any forums you are a member of or, in fact, any website at all is always appreciated and is a key way we can work together to spread awarness about the issues I talk about.
